Bobby Sexton

Robert D. (Bobby) Sexton, Sr., of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on July 6, 2023 at age 81. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 60 years, Dianne Sexton, children; Robert D. Sexton, Jr. (Cindy) and Beth Jackson (Josh), grandchildren; Ann Elise and Morgan Jackson, and beloved cousin, Corinne Dillard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas M. and Katie Lou Sexton, his brother, Ronald (Ronnie) Sexton, and his sister, Dorothy (Dot) Ferrell.

Bobby was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as Company Armorer, achieving the rank of sergeant (E-5) in under 2 years.

A life-long fighter, Bobby, conquered cancer, survived over 30 years of multiple heart problems and joint replacements. He deeply loved his family and friends and was quick to stand by them. He had a great sense of humor, being quick to joke and tease mercilessly in good spirits.

He was a proud graduate of Cohn High School where he was a standout athlete in football and track, maintaining close friendships with his class and teammates throughout his life. He loved sports, especially football and never missed a chance to watch his Tennessee Vols play.

A graduate of Belmont University, he spent his career with the Nashville Glass Division of Ford Motor Company where he had many dear friendships.

An outdoors enthusiast, he was best known to many for his love of field trial beagles and bass fishing.

Bobby was a person of great integrity and instilled those basic values of duty, responsibility, and integrity into his children and grandchildren. He was a long-time member of Bellevue Church of Christ.

He had a larger-than-life presence about him that left an impression on all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 9, 2023 from 2:00pm ~ 5:00pm and Monday, July 10, 2023 from 9:00am ~ 10:00am with a Celebration of Life at 10:00am and the burial to follow all at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home 9090 Highway 100, Nashville TN, 37221.
