Robert Willie Sheriff- Age 85- July 28, 2017.
Robert (Bob) Willie Sheriff was born on October 19, 1931 in Hollis Oklahoma. He died on July 28, 2017 after suffering complications due to several strokes. He is survived by his ex-wife, Ellie Jean Sheriff; daughter, Carmen Henderson (Jim); daughter, Michele Gill (Steve); and son Mark Sheriff (Traci); five granddaughters, Courtney Martin (Derek); Chelsea Jones (Rob); Stacey Henderson, Tabitha Sheriff; and Morgan Sheriff; and four great-grandsons, Macyn Martin; Tucker Martin; Jax Martin and Cruz Martin.
Bob served in the Air Force as an air mechanic and was honorably discharged with rank of Senior Staff Sargent. He graduated from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico with Bachelor's Degrees in Business Administration and Accounting. He worked for White Sands Missile Range as a business analyst for about 10 years.
Bob traded his house for an airplane, and moved his family to Santa Rosa, New Mexico to build a truck stop with his nephew and business partner, Bill Sheriff. Bob got permission to upgrade the cow pasture landing strip next to the truck stop by putting a two-way radio at the front desk. He trained his employees to give pilots information for take offs and landings, and to light up the runway with their car headlights at night.
After selling their truck stops, Bob worked for Bill in the Truck Stops of America headquarters in Nashville. Then Bob went from the corporate world to helping friends and his children start small businesses in the greater Nashville area.
Bob made sure his family always had what they needed. He was a combination penny pincher and very generous man. He enjoyed hunting Native American artifacts, flying airplanes, playing cards, golfing and fishing trips. He has been fiercely independent, but has allowed his kids to help him over the last five years. We will miss him until we see him again.
Jesus says:
"I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?" John 11:25-26.
