Wayne was born on February 6, 1940 to the late Margaret Beard Sinks and the late Robert Westly Sinks. His beloved grandparents were William and Earlie Beard and John and Mary Sinks. They were very influential in his life and helped him become the great man that he was. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Sherrie Davis Sinks; son, Robbie (Leigh) Sinks; daughter, Kellie (Danny) Farrar; five grandchildren, Tyler, Andrew and Gracie Sinks, Shelby and Sydney Farrar; brother John Britton Sinks; nephew, Allen Wayne Sinks; and one niece; and many beloved cousins.

Wayne attended Castle Heights Military Academy and West End High School. He excelled in military school and enlisted in the United States Army National Guard where he received many awards and medals for his marksmanship and commendations for his service.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and in later years, woodcarving and airbrush painting. He was an accomplished athlete and enjoyed all sports and anything outdoors. He loved going to the mountains and the beach equally and sharing all that he loved with his wife. He was an avid Vandy fan, cheering them on for more than 60 years.

He retired from Ford Motor Company, Nashville Glass Plant after 42 years of service. His family and close friends filled his retirement years and he made himself available to help anyone.

A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Byrn and Bill Cothern officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow service in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
