On November 10, 2021, Robert Thomas Wood, Jr. passed away suddenly at age 59. He was a loving and caring husband and a wonderful father to two daughters.
Bob was born in Memphis, TN on February 1, 1962. He received his undergraduate degree from The University of Tennessee and an MBA from Cornell University. He also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst Designation. He was a Portfolio Manager for The Employees Retirement System of Texas in Austin, TX from 1998 to 2021.
On June 3, 1989, he married Rebecca Lynn Waddington. Their two daughters are Jessica and Emma. Bob loved his family and was a good provider for his wife and daughters. He took great pride in his children. He enjoyed sharing his ideas and love of music with them. Playing board games was a fun family activity.
Bob was a thinker and a mentor, always reading, learning, and researching. He enjoyed nature, travel, and collecting things like paintings, books, and pottery. Going antiquing to find treasures was a favorite hobby. He had fun attending college sports events and musical concerts. He enjoyed learning about his family history. He loved and was restoring his childhood home in Nashville, TN in preparation for retirement. Bob loved our dog Bear, who could usually be found in his lap while he was working from home during the pandemic. Bob was a sweet, funny, kind, caring, and hardworking man.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert Thomas Wood, and his mother, Romelle Agnes Vaughn Wood. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; and their two daughters, Jessica and Emma; two sisters, Susan Wood Dale (Brad) and Pamela Wood Stephens (Dennis); two aunts, Mae Christopher and Pranoum (Ott) Vaughn; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. While he didn’t say it very often, he loved you all.
