Ronald Marcus Stanley, Sr. (Ron, or Stan), 82, passed away peacefully on January 29th, 2023, at his home in Nashville, TN. He was surrounded by love with his wife of 59 years and two children.
Ron was born to parents James Marcus Stanley, Jr. and Jeanne Fox Stanley on April 2, 1940 in Miami Florida. Raised in Miami with his younger brother, Dennis Henry, Ron graduated from Coral Gables High School in 1959. Ron began his career working for the Miami Housing Authority, holding a variety of roles culminating as a manager. Subsequently while in Miami, Ron held various roles including real estate brokerage and sales positions. In 1963, He and Frances Norma Fucini were married in Miami. Before starting their family, Ron and Fran enjoyed traveling the world and the outdoor activities south Florida provided with close friends and a large family. Ron’s first child, Ronald M. Stanley, Jr., was born in 1970.
In 1976, Ron moved the family to Hendersonville, NC, to build a home and raise the family on land purchased by his grandfather, where he had spent much of his youth vacationing. This land in the NC mountains became Ron’s most treasured and special place. With this relocation, Ron established his own business, Property Management Services, providing home and commercial improvement and management services. Ron grew this business which continued until his full retirement in 2018. Ron took great pride in his quality work and built many deep and lasting friendships with clients throughout his career.
Ron and Fran’s second child, April Jeanne, was born in 1981. In addition to family and work, Ron also enjoyed raising cattle and farming on the land, along with helping with friends’ farms in the community. Ron loved cooking, shooting, woodworking in the shop he built, maintaining the family property and spending time with friends. In North Carolina, Ron and the family were members of Etowah United Methodist Church.
In 2018, Ron relocated with Fran to Nashville TN to be near their children and families. He retained a home and the family land in Hendersonville, NC, returning often for visits to the mountains and time with friends, including breakfasts with “The Fellows of Horseshoe” and catching up with Folly Road neighbors and family. Ron established an active life and solid roots in Nashville, with dear friends at Bellevue United Methodist and Bellevue Christian churches, and the Bellevue YMCA “Roundtable” group. Ron conquered several health challenges, tackling “situations” as he called them with toughness and determination. This included overcoming esophageal cancer. Ron’s presence in Nashville allowed him significant time enjoyed engaging with his wife, son, daughter, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, and five grandchildren – affectionately known as “Pappy”.
Ron leaves an indelible legacy of love, discipline, hard work, toughness, pride, patience, acceptance, and grace. He exhibited and modeled inspiring traits that leave lasting impressions in his family members as gifts that will transcend to generations ahead. His legacy will also continue to be present through the NC family land that he was committed to preserving for future generations. Predeceased by his parents and brother, Ron is survived by his family in Nashville: his beloved wife, Fran; children Ron (Laura) Stanley, Jr. and April (Jamie) Edwards; and grandchildren R. “Marc” III, Sarah-Frances, Lillian, Amelia, and Ellery.
The family will hold a private ceremony in North Carolina. In lieu of donations or flowers, the family kindly asks those interested in honoring Ron’s memory to please express an extra act of love or kindness.
