Funeral Mass: St Henry Catholic Church
Sam (Sandra) Tamburin, a dedicated sister, aunt and friend who loved fabulously and ferociously, died Jan. 17, 2021 at 63.
Family and friends were her foundation. Sam marched through life on a mission to make every moment magnificent for the people she loved.
More than anything, she relished the magic of gathering with them to make memories and share joy. She did so as often as she could, always with a dramatic flourish.
Every visit was a "perfect people party." Every dinner was a four course feast with deviled eggs dyed to match her color scheme. Her lipstick and nails were bright red, and her laugh spanned an octave.
She forged deep connections wherever she went. Her sprawling circle of loved ones - from different states, backgrounds and generations - is her legacy. The force of her undeniable charisma will link them together forever.
Sam's shrewd networking skills also fueled her professional life. She worked as an employment recruiter for many years, in addition to time with Metropolitan Federal Savings & Loan and the author Patricia Cornwell.
Her greatest joy, though, came in her role as Aunt Sam to her cherished nephews and niece. Adam, Zachary, Luke, Frank, Charles and Caroline had her heart.
She was a devoted advocate for animal rescue efforts. She raised and doted on four dogs. Her "sons" Dino, Koal, Rafa and Jagger repaid her kindness with relentless affection.
Sam is preceded in death by her beloved parents "Sonny Day" and Helen, better known as "Paw and Maw," and her brother Francis.
In addition to her nephews and niece, she is survived by her brother and unflagging ally Barry.
Her family will host a limited funeral Mass 11 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Henry Catholic Church. The attire is black turtleneck optional, in honor of her perennial winter uniform.
Harpeth Hills Funeral Home at 9090 Highway 100 is handling arrangements.
More "perfect people parties" celebrating Sam are sure to follow in the coming months.
