Sammie Ackerman Guthrie, 81 of Nashville passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013 at her daughter's home under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Visitation will be at West Harpeth Funeral Home Friday Feb. 8, 5 to 8 pm and Saturday Feb. 9 at 10 am with funeral services at 11 am followed by burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Sammie was born December 2, 1931 in Nashville to Samuel and Corinne Ackerman. She graduated from Cohn High School in 1951 and attended David Lipscomb College. In 1954 married Robert L. Worsham, Jr. who died in 1959. Married H.B. "Bart" Guthrie in 1982. Mrs. Guthrie retired from South Central Bell. She was a member of Bellevue Church of Christ. Survived by daughter, Peggy Forrest Watts; grandchildren, Dr. Melissa Dr. Jonathan Crowder, Courtney Watts and Austin Watts, step-children- Gyni Guthrie David Garner, Michael Linda Guthrie, step-grandchildren- Andrea Guthrie, Jennifer Mitch Huber, Ben Garner and great-grandson Max Huber; sisters Helen Louis Demonbreun, Frankie Jim Boyte and brother John Ackerman as well as many nieces, nephews, church family and friends. Proceeded in death by Robert and Bart, parents Sam and Corinne Ackerman, sister Emma Mai Miller, brother William "Willie" P. Ackerman, grandson Douglas Watts and great-nephew Chip Demonbreun.
