Samuel (David) Elrod Jr., a life-long resident of Nashville, TN died on August 12, 2020 at the age of 85. David is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara P. Elrod; his brother, Wayne Elrod; his sister, Betty Sharber; his sons and daughter-in-law, Rick Elrod, Terry and Heather Elrod; his grandchildren, Kayleigh Elrod Roberts, Justin Elrod, Selah Elrod, and Nathaniel Elrod, and one great grandchild, Aubry Roberts. He is predeceased by his parents Pauline and David Elrod, Sr.
David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved fishing and boating but, most of all, he loved his family and to talk to people and to make them laugh. David was an accomplished musician and trumpet player. He led The David Elrod Quintet playing big band music in the city clubs throughout Nashville in the 60s and 70s. David had a career in sales with Orgill Brothers and retired from Metro in 2001. David was a man of faith and loved the Lord. He was a kind and gentle soul. Surely, he is an angel now.
A family grave-site service will be held on Monday August 17, 2020 at 11:00 at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens 9090 Highway 100, Nashville, TN 37221. In lieu of flowers, kindly send donations on behalf of David Elrod to St. Jude Hospital.
