Shirley Elliott, beloved to many, departed this world on February 20, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on May 8, 1945, Shirley’s journey began in the small town of Greenwood, South Carolina, where she participated in academics and her passion for sports and music shone. Graduating from Greenwood High School, she cherished the relationships that would shape her life. It was here that she met her husband, Richard, a bond that would flourish over the years.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Cordell Cameron and Anice Powell Cameron; and husband, Richard Elliott.
Shirley is survived by her children, Vickie Elliott (Michael) Davie, Trisha Elaine Elliott, and Geoffrey Brian (Yesenia) Elliott; grandchildren, Austin Tyler Elliott, and Cassidy Elise Elliott; siblings, Eldon Cameron, Wayne Cameron, Janice Hartley, Starr Jeffries, and Audrey Frye; as well as multiple nieces and nephews.
Shirley devoted her professional life to her role as an office manager at FESCO, where she was known for her dependability and strong work ethic.
Beyond her professional achievements, Shirley is remembered for her culinary talents. The aroma of her fried chicken, chili, stir fry, egg drop soup, and homemade German chocolate cake filled her home, delights that brought family together. Shirley's cooking was always met with gratitude and admiration from her family and friends, alike.
Shirley had a vibrant personality that shone brightly. She dedicated time to her hobbies, immersing herself in puzzle books—crosswords, logic puzzles, and sudoku challenged her mind. Her evenings were often spent watching wrestling, a passion she cherished. Shirley's love for music thrived as she danced at the country western bars. Throughout the 80’s and 90’s, Shirley was a member of the country dance team that performed at the Summer Lights Festival which took place in Nashville.
Shirley would do anything for anyone. Her kindness knew no bounds, and her open heart touched the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.
Shirley leaves behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and joy. She will be deeply missed.
