Steve G. Condurelis Jr., age 95, passed on January 8, 2017 in Bonita Springs, FL after a lengthy illness. He was born in Waycross, GA on June 26, 1921 and grew up on his grandfather's farm.
He was a star football player in high school before joining the Navy. He served in World War II in the South Pacific on the USS Saratoga as a radio operator, and was part of the team who installed the first radar system on the ship.
After the war he attended Georgia Tech, was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering, (in three years).
He married Amelia M. Wilkins (Mimi) in 1946 and they moved to Nashville, TN where he worked for South Central Bell/ATT for 35 years and they raised their three children, Peggy, Steve, and Frank Condurelis.
Hobbies in his later years were operating his short wave radio and travel.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mimi, and is survived by his current wife, Lynda Bergan Condurelis, his three children, two step children, 10 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
A family memorial service will be held at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, in Nashville, TN. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
