Steven David Martin, age 62, of Kingston Springs, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Janey Tiesler. Survivors include his wife Janie Berryman, his son Michael (Laura), grandchildren Colin and Chloe, father-in-law, Tom Tiesler, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, in laws and outlaws.
Steve was born in Alpharetta, Ga. He grew up in Kingston Springs. He graduated high school and attended college. Steve proudly served his country in the US Army in the 80’s. He worked in management for several companies before joining Janie in her business Berryman and Associates as CFO. He was a wonderful partner in business and at home.
Steve was great at working with his hands building things and tinkering with his various projects. He was creative and a dreamer always coming up new and interesting things to get involved in. He loved riding children on his tractor and sitting around the firepit by the creek. He loved music of all kinds and had an extensive album collection as well as recorded videos and songs, which he would play on the deck and around fire whenever he entertained. He was a grill master and loved to feed people. He enjoyed helping others and would gladly show up if there was a need.
He was a proud grandfather for Chloe and Colin, watching their various sports and activities. They love their Paw Paw and one of the biggest regrets is that he is not around to see them grow up. Steve was very proud of Michael and enjoyed watching his success as a father and in business.
Steve loved animals and raised several exotics breeds over the years, including emus, a pot belly pig, piranhas, an iguana, ducks, and a menagerie of dogs and cats. He especially was proud of his wolfdogs Cheyenne and Shiloh referring to them as his spirit animals. One of the most interesting ones was a Red Tail Columbian Boa constrictor that lived in the home till 17 years old and now resides at the Nashville Zoo.
Holidays were a special time for Steve, particularly Halloween. He would build elaborate sets at his Mom’s front yard with spooky music, fog, dry ice, giant spider webs and haunted tunnels. Everyone, adults, included would dress up and participate in making Trick or Treating a memorable experience for two generations of neighbor kids.
Steve will be lovingly remembered as son, nephew, father, husband, grandfather, and friend by many. His legacy of “Go Big or Go Home” will live on.
