Stewart (“Stu”) Edward Allen, age 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee.
Stu was born in Vincennes, Indiana on April 1, 1941 to the late Stewart Morris Allen and Della Roberta Weger. He graduated from Martinsville High School in Martinsville, Indiana in 1959. After high school, Stu enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served during the Vietnam War. Throughout his life, Stu refueled aircraft at Air Force bases outside of Columbus, Indiana and in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; he transported veteran patients to their medical appointments at VA hospitals throughout the Tampa Bay, Florida area for the Disabled American Veterans; and he delivered air conditioning and heating equipment throughout the Middle Tennessee area for Ed’s Supply Company. He loved golf, Green Bay Packers football, and bowling. During his retirement, Stu enjoyed tracing his ancestry and taking day trips to old cemeteries and battlefields with his wife, Judy. In 2016, when Stu became a Papaw to his granddaughter, Everly Rose, he said that it was the “greatest gift” of his life.
Stu is survived by his wife, Judith Ann Allen; two sons, Michael Edward Allen and Jeffrey Lee Allen (daughter-in-law, Jamie Lynn Rose Allen); granddaughter, Everly Rose Allen (age 4); sister, Cynthia Ann Cain (brother-in-law, Daniel Scott Cain); nieces, Sarah Ann Clark (Joshua) and Rebecca Suzanne Roof (Nathaniel); nephew, Scott Andrew Cain; and 4 great nephews and nieces.
A private service will take place at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, 9090 Highway 100, Nashville, Tennessee 37221 on Friday, May 7th at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at the Middle Tennessee State Veteran’s Cemetery, 7931 McCrory Lane, Nashville, Tennessee 37221, at 11:00 a.m.
