Taft Lentz Davis, born October 25, 1934, of Franklin, passed away on April 29, 2017. Taft was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a devout Christian, prior elder and member of Fernvale Church of Christ. He was a very giving and generous person involved in a number of church ministries.
Taft Davis entered the Air Force in 1952 and was commissioned through the aviation cadet program in 1955. He married Jean Cope on July 4, 1955 in McMinnville TN. Immediately following the wedding they began their life and family in the Air Force traveling the world. Taft Davis left the Air Force briefly joining the Tennessee Air National Guard at McGhee Tyson AFB while finishing his Accounting degree at The University of Tennessee. After a short time working as an Accountant, he was once again commissioned in the Air Force serving 1 tour in Korea and 2 tours in Vietnam. He served his country with honor and valor receiving numerous air medals and being awarded the Silver Star. Taft retired from the Air Force in 1974. After retirement he completed his Master's degree in Finance from UT Nashville. He went to work for Nashville Technical Institute as VP over the Business Department until he retired at the age of 60.
Taft was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Stiles; father Paul Astor Davis. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jean Cope Davis; children Mona Davis Largent Akin (Brent Akin), Margaret Davis Weatherman (Shannon Weatherman), Taft Hampton Davis (Selma Forni Davis) and Terence Gene Davis; grandchildren Derek Largent (Amber Largent), Denise Davis, Vicki Jean Davis, Noelle Davis, Sophia Davis, Kristin Crow (Greg Crow), Jesse Weatherman and Justine Weatherman; great-grandchildren, Tyhg Largent, Elijah Taft Largent and Noah Largent.

A Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, June 3rd, 2017 at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN, 37221. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. At 2:00 p.m. there will be a short memorial service followed by the inurnment with full Military Honors.
