Teresa Garrett Hippel

Teresa Anne Garrett Hippel, age 72, was born on July 27, 1952. She passed away peacefully in the company of her family on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.

Teresa was a devoted wife, mother, and “Oma”, a Hematology specialist and author, fun and loving friend, and follower of Christ. She enjoyed playing the piano, reading legal thrillers, cooking for others (and herself), travelling across America and the Pond, watching British television programs, and all things purple. Teresa had a creative side that came out when decorating for holidays, planning a party, writing a funny poem, or playing with her granddaughters. She warmly embraced loved ones and strangers alike, leaving a lasting impression of love on everyone she met. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lawrence Hippel; parents, Lawrence Tyson “Bub” Garrett and Virginia Louise Brown Garrett. She is survived by her sons, Kurt (Rachel) Hippel and Drew (Joanna) Hippel; granddaughters, Amory and Tess Hippel; brother, Tony (Kay) Garrett, and sister, Tracy (David) Hickey, as well as beloved nieces, nephews, extended family both home and abroad, and numerous friends.
