Terry Clark Kurre passed away at the age of 77 in Nashville, TN. He was born on September 18, 1946, in St. Louis Missouri to the late Harold and Jean Kurre. Terry lived a life of purpose, faith, and love. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Terry is survived by his loving wife Paula Priest Kurre, daughters Erika (Bryan) Nash and Katherine (Robert) Meyers, grandchildren Luca Nash, Havalee Nash, Faith Meyers and Epiphany Meyers, siblings Dennis Kurre (the late Connie Kurre), Sandy (Charles) LaGarce, and Sharon Hansen (the late Robert Hansen).
From an early age, Terry showed remarkable discipline and determination. He was an outstanding student and athlete throughout his high school and college years. A long-time state and high school record holder for discus while attending Brentwood High School in Missouri, Terry's commitment to sports was a testament to his unwavering dedication.
Terry had an insatiable curiosity about the world and a deep passion for travel. He possessed an extraordinary ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Whether it was striking up a conversation with a stranger on a train or forging lifelong friendships during his journeys, Terry had an innate talent for making everyone he met feel special. His love for travel and meeting new people took him to far-flung corners of the globe. Terry embraced every destination with an open mind and an open heart. He believed that experiencing different cultures broadened one's horizons and enriched one's soul.
Terry served in the US Air Force for four years prior to earning his bachelor’s degree at Southeast Missouri State University where he was very involved in the campus veterans corps and intramural sports. His time in the military honed his character and instilled in him a profound sense of duty. Terry's honorable discharge was a recognition of his exemplary service to his country.
Terry's deep faith guided every aspect of his life. He was an active member of The Church at Harpeth Heights and was widely known for his unwavering devotion to Christ. Terry walked the path of Jesus with grace and humility, striving always to live a Christian life filled with compassion and love.
Terry's warmth and sense of humor endeared him to all who knew him. He had an incredible ability to bring joy into any room he entered. His infectious laughter could lighten even the heaviest hearts.
While accomplishments defined much of Terry's life, it was his intentional love for others that truly set him apart. Whether it was through acts of kindness or lending a helping hand, Terry touched countless lives with his selflessness. He strived to make those around him feel seen and valued.
Terry also left behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by those he loved. His commitment to being intentional in every facet of life will continue to inspire generations to come.
Though our hearts grieve the loss of Terry, we find solace in the memories we shared and the impact he had on our lives. His light will continue to shine brightly, even in his absence.
In honor of Terry Clark Kurre, let us remember the laughter he brought, the love he shared, and the unwavering faith that defined his journey. May his soul find eternal peace as his memory lives on in our hearts.
There will be a Visitation on Monday December 11, 2023 from 2:00 pm until the Celebration of Life 4:00 pm, all held at The Church at Harpeth Heights located at 8063 TN-100, Nashville, TN 37221.
Internment to take place at a later date at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
