BASKETTE, Thetis Peacock- passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012. She was born on August 29, 1926 in Hot Springs, Arkansas where she was delivered by her grandfather, Dr. William Franklin Hamilton. Mrs. Baskette was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Roger DuVal Baskette, Sr., and her father Clarence W. Peackock; mother, Elaine Peacock; and brother, Gene Peacock. She is survived by brother, Clarence Peacock; son, Roger D. Baskette, Jr.; daughters, Pam Caples Greg, Rene Batson Garry, Marsha Dunn Steve and grandchildren, Hunter Batson, Chad Batson, Brandon Caples, Tyler Caples, Chase Caples, Jesse Dunn and Shelby Dunn. Mrs. Baskette grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas and graduated from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. She was a teacher in Davidson and Williamson county school systems for over 26 years. Mrs. Baskette was very active in the community, helping to form the Bellevue Junior Women's Club and was honored as Woman of the Year. She was instrumental in getting the first "Welcome to Bellevue" sign installed at Old Harding Road and Highway 70. She was a founding member of Bellevue Church of Christ, serving in the education ministry for many years. Mrs. Baskette enjoyed researching her and her husband's family genealogies, oil painting, gardening and shopping for antiques. Funeral services will be held at Bellevue Church of Christ at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2012 with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the funeral. Interment will follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Alive Hospice, St. Thomas Hospital Unit in honor of the deceased.
