Toni Rotoni Rothfuss passed from this life to the eternal, at the age of 65, after a brief illness. She was born to Dorothy and Roger Rotoni on 12/5/1954 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
"Toni" was not her given name but one that she loved. To her, it represented her father whom she loved deeply and her Italian heritage of which she was proud. Toni lived most of her life in Nashville, TN. She graduated from Cohn High School and earned an undergraduate and master's degree in Psychology from MTSU. She was a long-standing member of Belmont Church in Nashville - serving faithfully on the tithe and offering team for over two decades.
After college, Toni worked for several years in corporate real estate before venturing out on her own to build a successful business as a real estate developer - working hand-in-hand with her nephew, Joseph Walker of JB Walker Construction whom she dearly loved. She wasn't afraid of risk when she believed in something, and she believed in West Nashville's potential. She was one of the first entrepreneurs to see potential in the West Nashville area known as "The Nations", and over the years renovated and built numerous properties in the area.
Besides her numerous business ventures, Toni doted over her many nieces and nephews much to their delight. She was the ever-consummate host and caretaker to family when in need. Family could always count on Toni, but she wasn't just dependable, she was also simply fun to be around. She could find humor in anything and was always cracking jokes. She loved making her mother laugh, and Toni made it look easy. When Toni thought something was funny, it was next to impossible not to laugh along with her. If you were ever fortunate enough to go to the movie theater with her, you would know this to be true. Her laugh so was loud and infectious that often the entire theater would start to laugh along with her.
She was also a force to be reckoned with. Never shy about her beliefs; you could count on Toni to give you her honest opinion on all sorts of topics. She would happily discuss politics and religion along with her new favorite find at Trader Joe's or the fact that "The Nations" should have been named "Historic West Nashville" instead. She wasn't shy, but she was private. She never understood the appeal of Facebook or Instagram. She would often muse "Who in their right mind would want to share that much over the internet."
We will miss our daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Our loss and hope for the future is best described by a Ron Tranmer poem loved by Toni's sister Theresa: "Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again."
Toni is preceded in death by her loving father, Roger Rotoni Sr. Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Rotoni, Aunt Irene Wilson, siblings Roger Rotoni Jr., Theresa Rotoni-Walker, and Mary Rotoni Hooker, all of Nashville, and 14 nieces and nephews.
Her final resting place will be at Harpeth Hills cemetery with her father whom she loved dearly. Receiving of friends will take place on Wednesday, May 27th from noon to 2 pm with service and burial following.
