Departed on August 20, 2017 and resided in Nashville, TN
Travis Gene Smith passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 22 at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
Although we grieve his absence, he lived a life we'll continue to celebrate - one of eighty-nine years spent singing loudly, hootin' and hollerin', cuttin' up, loving his family, playing the organ, the guitar, driving the boat and praising God. In short, he had a good time all the time.
"Because He Lives," he knew he could face tomorrow, and from College Park to the Navy, Dunwoody to the honorary mayor of The Athens Boat Club on Lake Lanier, he did so with a vibrant love for life and people. He now joins his Janie and so many good friends and family in Heaven.
Travis, is survived by three daughters, Denise and Greg Sikes, Nashville, TN, Elaine and Andy Williams, Snellville, GA and Cindy Moore, Smyrna, TN; seven grandchildren, Lauren Sikes, Robert Sikes, Travis and Mary Catherine Sikes, Ellie and Brett Taylor, Jennifer and Mike Colosimo, Carole Williams and Sallie Williams; four great-grandchildren, Smith and McCoy Sikes and Mac and Mary Thenie Colosimo; and one grand dog, King George. None will ever run out of spirited memories to tell about him.
Thank you to the staff of Wellington, and to Insa, whose compassionate service and friendship we will always treasure.
A private family celebration of life will take place in Nashville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alive Hospice at alivehospice.org or 1710 Patterson St, Nashville, TN 37203
