Vickie Elaine Allen was born in Heber Springs, Arkansas on December 28, 1958. She died on April 4, 2024 in Asheville, North Carolina at the age of 65. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Howard and Alice Allen, of Drasco, Arkansas.
Vickie is survived by a brother, Mike Allen and his wife Brenda, of Weaverville, North Carolina and a sister, Marsha Bowden and her husband Scott, of Mountain View, Missouri. She is also survived by five nieces and one nephew- Abigail Engman and husband Josh of Hope Mills, North Carolina; Alicia White and husband Adam of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; Andrew Allen of Madison, Alabama; Anna Bowden of Springfield, Missouri; Ashley Long and husband Tyler of Madison, Alabama; Amy Allen of Madison, Alabama. She is also survived by a grandniece, Wren Elaine Long, and a grandnephew, Evren Scott White. Vickie is also survived by many friends and colleagues.
Vickie was a member and organist of Harpeth Heights Baptist Church. She dedicated her life to Christian ministry and impacted the lives of many people, especially children. Vickie had an amazing personal relationship with her savior Jesus Christ that brought her joy and sustained her throughout her life.
Vickie graduated from Arkansas College with a degree in music education. She taught elementary music at Mountain View Elementary in Mountain View, Missouri. After receiving a call into the ministry, she attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. There she received a Master of Music, Church Music and Music Education, Degree. Upon graduation she became the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Music at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
After leaving Fort Worth, Vickie became a Design Editor for children’s music curriculum at Lifeway Christian Resources in Nashville, Tennessee. She then worked as Worship Music Assistant at Forest Hills Baptist Church. Throughout her life Vickie was a church pianist and organist.
Vickie loved spending time with her friends and family. She was a loving, encouraging aunt to the A-Team- Abby, Alicia, Andy, Anna, Ashley and Amy. She doted on them when they were little and as they grew provided crafts and activities they enjoyed. She attended as many special events in their lives as she could. She was a wonderful sister to Mike and Marsha.
Vickie enjoyed her cats, crafting, watching the NBA, shopping and gift giving. She also enjoyed teaching children’s choirs, Bible study, singing in choirs and playing the piano.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for Vickie on Saturday April 20, 2024 at Harpeth Hills Memory Garden -Funeral Home in Nashville, Tennessee. Visitation will be from 12:30- 1:30 and the Celebration of Life at 1:30.
Interment will be at a later time at Macedonia Cemetery in Drasco, Arkansas.
