Warren Woodrow Walp, Jr. went to be with the Lord January 13, 2020 after a brief illness at St. Thomas Hospital. He was born on May 15, 1937 to Woodrow and Margaret Walp and was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church. He attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and Vanderbilt University in Nashville, and served in the U. S. Navy for 8 years from 1955 to 1963, two years active duty, and six in the reserves. He served aboard the U.S.S. Forrestal aircraft carrier.
Before his retirement in 1998, Warren worked for Ford Motor Company in Nashville as a glass inspector and millwright for nearly 40 years. He shared a great love of photography and wood-working, and he loved to travel. He was a generous and giving person who loved the Lord Jesus, and he was a great friend to all he knew.
Warren was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Sylvia Jean Curtis; his father, Warren Woodrow Walp, Sr., and a grandson, Deputy Zackari S. Parrish, III (Gracie). He is survived by his mother, Margaret Elizabeth Walp; his daughter, Julie Crystal Parrish (Zack); daughter Carla Maria McCombs (Dr. Paul, III); grandchildren Stephanie Berglund (Seth); Jolie Garcia (Danny); Claire Hao (David); Beau McCombs (Nune) and Anya Parrish; 5 great-grandchildren; Hallie, Elora, and Reese Hao; Caroline and Everly Parrish, and Blake Lloyd.
Services will be held at the Pavilion at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home on Saturday, January 18, at 1:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m.
