William Grider Blewett

William Grider Blewett, 82, passed away January 25, 2025, at his home in Franklin, TN. Bill was born October 16, 1942, in Auburn, Kentucky to Thomas and Cassie Harris Blewett. He was a 1960 graduate of Auburn High School after which he attended Western Kentucky University where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He graduated in 1964 with a BS in Business Administration. He married Donna Russell on September 3, 1966. 

 Bill began his career with Cooper Tire Company in 1968 in Finley, OH. In 1972 he started with Dunlap & Kyle Tire Company of Batesville, MS and moved to Nashville at that time. He worked in sales until becoming General Manger in 1995, later retiring in 2013 after 41 years with the company. He served in the Army Reserves from 1964-1970 and was a Christian and Elder in the Presbyterian church. 

 He was preceded in death by his mother and father, two sisters, Virginia Wilson of Auburn, KY and Margie Glover of Atlanta, Ga, and one brother, Joe Vick of Louisville, KY. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna; one daughter, Anne Holiday Ferrell (Andy) of Brentwood, TN; two step-granddaughters, Natalie and Paige Ferrell; two sisters, Nancy Gaines of Auburn, KY and Linda Brantley of Louisville, KY; and many nieces and nephews. 

 Bill’s unique gift to the world was his ability to entertain. He loved people and was happiest when making them laugh. His wit and sense of humor is his legacy to all who knew and loved him. 

 A memorial is being planned for later in the Spring. 

 In lieu of flowers, his family request donations be made to his favorite charities: Boys Town of America (200 Flanagan Blvd, PO Box 6000, Boys Town, NE 68010-9988) or Sacred Sparks, a ministry for the homeless.
