William Ernest "Bill" Boyte, age 82, passed away peacefully Friday morning March 23, 2018 surrounded by family. He is survived by his high school sweetheart, wife of 63 years Carolyn Kopp Boyte; daughter Delicia Votaw (John); and son, Bick (Nora); granddaughters: Shelby Boyte Cunningham (Justin); Blair Boyte Moon (Trey); Candis Boyte Grunwald (Matt); and Molly Boyte; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Bill attended Nicholas Blackwell High School in Bartlett TN. He met Carolyn when he was a freshman and they started dating as juniors (1950). After graduation he attended Castle Heights Military Academy where he played football on the mid-south championship team. In 1953 he started working with his father at Oak Motors (a Ford Motors Dealership). A year later he married Carolyn and they settled in Nashville. In 1970 Bill and his father established Mid-Tenn Ford Truck Sales, the oldest Ford dealer in Nashville. He continued working there to his last day.
Bill was an avid outdoors man. He raised, showed, and hunted bird dogs and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends.
His greatest legacy is the passion he had for people. He was a generous man who took a personal interest in everyone he knew. He was considered a father figure by many who relished his wisdom and friendship. He will be sorely missed.
