William Cullum Byrd "Bill or Buddy" passed away at home on May 20, 2017 at age 82 surrounded by his family after an extended illness.

Preceded in death by his father, William Anderson "Pete" Byrd; mother, Rosa Alice Miles Byrd.

Mr. Byrd is survived by his wife of 38 years, Julia E. Byrd; sons, William Blake "Bud" Byrd (Kathy) and Lloyd Anderson "Pete" Byrd (Rita); grandchildren, Stacy Byrd Hartley (Jerriahmy), Taylor Marie Byrd and Bud James Byrd (Bernadette); great-grandchild, Brysen Lake Hartley; step-children, James William Lemon and Michelle Leigh Dutton Norden (William); step-grandchildren, William Cody Norden (Alex), Shawn Westmoreland, Shane Westmoreland and Krista Newby; step-great-grandchildren, William Colt Norden and Waylon Newby and many other family members

A special thanks to sister-in-law, Dorothy Faught and the staff at Alive Hospice for their excellent care.

He retired from the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County Water Department with 31 years of service. He was a member of the Buena Vista Masonic Lodge #639 and a member of Charlotte Road Baptist Church.

Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 with the Masonic Service at 7 p.m. at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
