Bill was born in Bells, Tennessee November 26, 1930 to Carrie Harris Given and William Given. He graduated from Bells High School and served his country in the US Air Force. He attended East Tennessee State University, married Gail Singleton from Johnson City in 1953 and together raised three wonderful children.

After jobs taking the family to S. Simons Island, GA and Charleston, SC, they settled in Nashville. Bill worked as a construction engineer for Truckstops of America and BP Oil. After retirement, he worked part time as Hart Ace Hardware, where he retired again.

Bill had many hobbies and could build and fix just about anything. He loved his children dearly and was so proud of their accomplishments.

He leaves behind his wife Gail S. Given, daughters Gwen Brewer (Gary), Deborah White and son Monty (Wm.3rd) Grandchildren Parker White of Washington DC, Matthew Brewer (Kirsten) of Nashville, Katherine Mace (Jason) of Nashville, Paige White of Kirksville, MO, sister Carolyn Beard of Atlanta, and niece and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Alive Hospice, 1710 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203. We will be forever grateful to Pennie Brooks, Theresa Carrington, Dahl Johnson and all of the Hospice team.

A visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Belle Meade United Methodist Church, 121 Davidson Rd. Nashville, TN 37205.
