William Daley Lewis was born January 28, 1949 to Pridez Johnson and Peter Carlos in Stann Creek, commonly known as Dangriga, Belize. He attended Sacred Heart School in Dangriga. At the age of 14, William moved to New York City with his father Peter where he earned his high school diploma from Louis D Brandeis High school.
William married the love of his life Wanda Etta Graves on April 29, 1972 and from that union God blessed them with their daughter, Etta Maria Lewis. William spent most of his adult career employed with Maritime Overseas Shipping Company until his retirement in 2012. He enjoyed many genres of music and obtained a respectable collection of records. William enjoyed working with his hands, so he began rebuilding cars and trucks. Once the vehicles were rebuilt, he would drive the vehicles down to his home country of Belize with the assistance of his brother, Crispin Carlos.
Post Retirement, William and Wanda moved to Nunnelly, Tennessee and were welcomed with open arms into the church family at the Christian Faith Center. William and Wanda were faithful parishioners to their new church home.
William was a good source of laughter and an overall good time. When he was around, any personal problems you had, he would share his wisdom with you and you'd walk away with joy in your heart. Amongst his peers and family he was known by many nicknames; Pluto, Junior, Carlos and Uncle Bill. Each had a significance in his life and he cherished each name deeply.
On Sunday March 8, 2020 William answered the Lord's call to return home. He was preceded in death by his parents; Pridez Johnson and Peter Carlos, siblings; Eileen Carlos, Yvonne Mim Rodriguez and Ellison David Lewis and his Nephew Nigel Stanford. He is survived by his wife, a grateful family and numerous friends.
