William Edward Twaler of Franklin, TN, formerly of Iowa City, IA. Passed away September 6, 2014. Bill was born June 14, 1934 in Chicago Heights, Illinois, son of Herman and Mary Twaler. He is survived by his wife of 54 years June Hogan Twaler, one sister, Mary Frances Four of Claria, France, two daughters Mary (Paul) Dams of Nashville, TN and Michelle (Sam) Boger of El Dorado, CA, one son, Bill Twaler (Lia) of Charleston, SC, two grandsons, Jake Edward Dams and Spencer Hogan Dams of Nashville, TN.
He attended Chicago Catholic schools and graduated from DePaul Univesity He then served his country in the United States Army Chemical Corps stationed in the Bikini Atolls. He moved to Iowa City, IA, and worked at the University of Iowa for 30 years, starting what is now known as the Health Protection Office. After retiring from the University of Iowa he moved to Nashville, TN and worked for Vanderbilt University helping reorganize their Health Protection Office. He also loved coaching youth softball and baseball, he was instrumental in starting the youth softball program in Iowa City. He was an avid golfer, Iowa Hawkeye fan, and diehard Chicago Cubs fan.

The funeral will be Friday, September 12th at 11 am in the chapel at St. Matthew Church, 533 Sneed Rd, Franklin TN, 37069. Arrangements by Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens Funeral Home, (615) 646-9292
