Obituary for Winefred Lorraine Williams:

Winefred Lorraine Williams, passed away on August 18, 2015 at the age of 96.

She will always be remembered for her warm personality, her elegant grace, her endless love and support of her family, and her patriotism toward our servicemen. Her life story is one of rags to riches. She was placed on an orphan train to the Midwest, where she was adopted by a loving couple. She married the love of her life, who was in the Air Force, which took her to many states and many countries. She embraced each move as a new adventure and lived life to the fullest. Along the way, she donated endless hours to the Red Cross, and other charitable organizations. She had been a member of the Sweet Adelines and the University of Michigan Choral Society. She was active in the Andrews Air Force Base Officers' Wives' Club and believed that, "neither distance or passage of time, would weaken the eternal bonds of shared experiences and values between Air Force Wives." The lives of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren provided her with much happiness and love.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Carter, and her son, Jon Williams (Jean); grandchildren Jefferson Williams (Carrie), Michelle Hiam (Jason), Julian Williams, Sara Carter; great grandchildren, Stacey and Madison; and her faithful dog, Toby.

She is predeceased by her loving and devoted husband, Lawrence D. Williams, and her son, Lawrence D. Williams II.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm at the Daily Chapel at Holy Family Catholic Church, 9100 Crockett Road, Brentwood, TN, where a funeral mass will be conducted celebrating her life immediately following the visitation at 1:00 pm.

Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA at a later date.

The family wishes to thank her doctor, Dr. Tracey Doering, her caregiver Sherri Hampton, and the health professionals at Alive Hospice for their wonderful care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alive Hospice of Nashville, 1710 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203.
